Want to "test run" a class? Want to work with your dog but don't have time for a multi-week commitment right now? Try a rally "drop-in" or our "tracking for fun" mini-workshop at Stay N Play Pet Ranch!

Monday, October 17, 2011, 7:00-8:30 PM ($15)

Available to Austin Dog Sports' students interested in practicing full courses. Open to the public, but instruction is limited. One full Novice course is available for as many run-throughs as time and participation allow. Limited to 6 participants. Pre-registration required!

Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Novice Rally behaviors

Sunday, October 30, 2011, 4:30-6:30 PM ($50)

Introducing you and your dog to the basics of tracking(and an excellent opportunity to catch the tracking bug!). Give your dog a new and exciting challenge in a fun environment - the outdoors!

This “Tracking for Fun!” workshop covers:
  • A brief explanation of how the canine nose works
  • An explanation of what tracking is
  • Demonstration and practice of how to handle the line on a tracking dog
  • Demonstration and practice of how to lay a track, both straight legs and turns
  • Demonstration and practice of how to run a dog on a track and teach your dog how to follow a track
Workshop prerequisite: Dogs must be at least nine months of age, and preferably have completed a basic (pet manners) obedience class before beginning tracking. This is not so much for the skills that you learned but more so we know that your dog can remain focused on you in the presence of other dogs. If you have not completed a class, but your dog can remain focused on you in the presence of other dogs and respond to basic commands, that is okay!

Be very, very quiet...we're hunting a good time
at the Tracking for Fun workshop!
