MEET HOBBS: CAT OF MYSTERY, LOVER OF TREATS!

Today is Halloween which is why we introduce you to our client Hobbs, an Orange tabby and one of our favorite cats -- he loves to lounge in the sun and watch the dogs from the cat kurunda bed, but when it's "lights out" at night, he is the the first one to let us know it is time for a treat!

Hobbs is also a trickster as he quietly prowls, investigating if there is anything -- a toy or food or another treat -- he can reach through the kennel and snag for himself.

The handsome Hobbs is also quite mysterious. Listen closely, and you will hear him mumbling under his breath -- no doubt about those crazy, dogs playing outside!

TRACKING FOR FUN SEMINAR

We will have a really fun "seminar" on Sunday, October 30, at Stay N Play Pet Ranch from 4:30pm - 6:30pm. This 2 hour, one-meeting seminar introduces you and your dog to the basics of tracking. The cost of the seminar is just $50. This is an excellent opportunity to catch the tracking bug!

Our tracking seminar is geared toward giving your dog a new and exciting challenge in a fun environment - the outdoors! Our seminar is not designed for canines pursuing the AKC TD (Tracking Dog) title, but we hope that taking this seminar will give you the tracking bug and encourage you to pursue tracking - for fun or competition!

Call (512) 894-7387 to register!

Available to Austin Dog Sports' students interested in practicing full courses. Open to the public, but instruction is limited. One full Novice course is available for as many run-throughs as time and participation allow. Limited to 6 participants. Pre-registration required!

Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the Novice Rally behaviors

SCENT TRACKING GAMES
Sunday, October 30, 2011, 4:30-6:30 PM ($50)

Introducing you and your dog to the basics of tracking(and an excellent opportunity to catch the tracking bug!). Give your dog a new and exciting challenge in a fun environment - the outdoors!

This “Tracking for Fun!” workshop covers:
  • A brief explanation of how the canine nose works
  • An explanation of what tracking is
  • Demonstration and practice of how to handle the line on a tracking dog
  • Demonstration and practice of how to lay a track, both straight legs and turns
  • Demonstration and practice of how to run a dog on a track and teach your dog how to follow a track
Workshop prerequisite: Dogs must be at least nine months of age, and preferably have completed a basic (pet manners) obedience class before beginning tracking. This is not so much for the skills that you learned but more so we know that your dog can remain focused on you in the presence of other dogs. If you have not completed a class, but your dog can remain focused on you in the presence of other dogs and respond to basic commands, that is okay!

Be very, very quiet...we're hunting a good time
at the Tracking for Fun workshop!
